Away from the city: nature photography by Sam Hudson

How would you describe your art?

Sam: My photography is defined by its natural aesthetic. There’s many things I love about nature photography. I always search for golden hour light as it elongates shadows and creates colours that are not seen during the day, and helps to create a consistency in all my photos. I love the process of taking photos too; these shots are all taken in the fields and valleys surrounding Durham, and the walks I take allow me to reflect and gather my thoughts for a couple of hours and get away from the rush and claustrophobic streets of the main city. I think I feel like I’m in my natural setting when I’m out taking photos because I grew up in the countryside, and it’s refreshing to be able to return to my comfort zone and do what I love at the same time.
