For six years now, Bloc has brought some of the most innovative musicians and DJs to the UK, pushing the boundaries of electronic music from its Butlins venue.
This year headliners Thom Yorke and Four Tet are joined by techno pioneers Jeff Mills and Carl Craig, Barghain regulars Ben Klock and Ben UFO, enigmatic producer Evian Christ.
Whereas most festivals would leave it there, supplementing their big names with unknown artists, Bloc refuses to follow this trend. When names like Nina Kraviz, Omar S, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Rødhåd, Optimo, Bicep, Daniel Avery and Midland are as far down the billing as is the case at Bloc, you know they mean business all round. The most recent release of names is topped off by Jimmy Edgar, Surgeon, Move D, Andrew Wetherall, Blawan and others, and it is only the first.
