Weekend Recommendation: Simple Things Festival 2014, Bristol

Bristol has gathered an eclectic mix of must-see musical acts this year for Simple Things Festival – with something to impress even the most discerning palate.

The festival kicks off on Friday 24th October, with their opening party featuring a live set from one of our favourites, Caribou, along with Canadian Hyperdub songstress, Jessy Lanza.

Spanning 12 stages, Saturday’s line-up brings together garage rockers Black Lips, the ever-changing Liars, and post-rock veterans Mogwai, with the likes of dance punk duo Death From Above 1979. Other artists on the bill include lo-fi bedroom R&B crooner How to Dress WellNightmares on Wax, a dose of darkness from Actress and some beguiling house from DJ Harvey. Other new acts include  SOPHIEDark SkyHappa and Redinho

Last year, the event made use of contrasting creative spaces around the city, from a derelict inner-city fire station, to the grand, gold-plated Colston Hall.

Take a look at some of the latest additions to the line-up, along with a taster of what’s to come through last year’s photos. We’re dizzy with excitement:
