We’ve been fans of Josh Butler for some time here at Bizarre Culture, an admiration which only escalated when we caught up with him for a chat a little while ago. Now Josh is back with a soulful release on legendary house label Defected. Something of a departure from Josh’s recent slew of driving tech house – including a few vinyl-exclusive releases under his KAHU alias – the vocals of Kerrie-Anne firmly ground On The Edge in the tradition of old school house.
As ever though, Butler puts his unique twist on the track, introducing a deep house bass and pads and intricate percussion, keeping the lengthy piece fresh throughout. Kerrie Anne’s harmonious hooks soar soulfully over the track at tastefully dispersed intervals, effortlessly working in tandem with the instrumentation to build mood and energy.
